Protecting Your Product AND the Planet
Our top priority is ensuring the integrity of the product being packaged in our structures. Our primary focus is protecting our customer’s products and, in doing so, protecting the resources used for it. Once we have designed a structure to protect the goods inside the package, we then focus on limiting the negative impact of the package itself by designing structures with a more responsible end-of-life.
We created the EarthGuard line to meet customers’ sustainability priorities, whether they need a compostable package, recycle-ready, post-consumer recyclable (PCR), and coming soon, a Bio solution. These different options allow customers to pick what best fits where they are on their journey to sustainability. There’s not one “silver bullet” that fits all customer needs, just as no package fits all products. We’re looking at multiple solutions to help address the end-of-life challenges of plastic.
Post-consumer Recyclable (PCR)
Our PCR films are an excellent option for supporting your sustainability goals. Available in a wide variety of options, these packaging solutions perform on par with our traditional packaging options and are designed with your sustainability goals in mind.
PCR refers to material/plastic recaptured from the waste stream and then recycled. The employment of PCR is critical for reducing waste and pollution, yet product quality DOES NOT take a hit. In fact, with all of Portco Packaging’s EarthGuard products, the quality of our PCR products is guaranteed.
Recycle Ready (RR)
Recycle ready is a recyclable film formulation designed to overcome the challenges of mixed films in recyclable structures. These structures use prequalified films for the in-store drop-off program in North America. As EPR legislation continues to expand throughout the US, recyclable and sustainable packaging, in general, will become a vital solution for your products. Portco Packaging’s EarthGuard line was designed as the answer to your sustainable packaging needs.
Compostable (COMP)
Reduce your environmental footprint with our line of compostable film structures. These materials are designed to break down and go back into nature after a specified amount of time. Our compostable products use BPI-certified compostable films and non-plastic options. While not suitable for all packaging applications, we can determine if this category is the right fit for you.
